DIEGO COSTA HIT BY INJURY

Atletico Madrid's prolific scorer, Diego Costa will have to wait until 2014 to make his international debut for Spain after withdrawing from their squad through injury. The Atletico Madrid striker, called up by Spain coach Vicente del Bosque last week for friendly matches against Equatorial Guinea and South Africa, was ruled out on Monday after team doctors diagnosed a right thigh injury suffered during Atletico's 1-1 draw with Villarreal in La Liga on Sunday.
Costa, 25, has caught the eye after scoring 13 La Liga goals in as many appearances this season and decided to play for the world and European champions over his native Brazil after a tug-of-war for his services over the past few months. The powerful striker had announced last week that he had decided to play for Spain despite having played in two friendlies for Brazil earlier this year.Costa, whose next chance to represent Spain will come against Italy on March 5, has been replaced by Juventus striker Fernando Llorente.
