SUPER EAGLES DROPS IN FIFA WORLD RANKING

The Super Eagles of Nigeria dropped to number 36 in the world in the latest FIFA ranking despite their win over Ethiopia and a draw against world class Azzuris of Italy. Most Nigerian football aficionados are calling on FIFA to give an explanation on the basis for the monthly ranking after many of the fans were disappointed about the new position of the Super Eagles on the FIFA Ranking.
Meanwhile, Portugal have moved up to fifth in the monthly FIFA rankings after Cristiano Ronaldo's goals helped the country beat Sweden in the World Cup playoffs. Portugal jumped nine places in the standings following their 4-2 aggregate win courtesy of Ronaldo's memorable second-leg hat trick.England fell three places to Number 13. England lost two friendlies at Wembley earlier this month, suffering a 2-0defeat to Chile before Germany beat them 1-0 four days later.The United States dropped one spot to Number 14. The Americans played to a goalless draw in Scotland and lost 1-0 in Austria in November friendlies.Spain lead an unchanged top four ahead of Germany, Argentina and Colombia. After Portugal, it's Uruguay at Number 6 followed by Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands and Brazil.Belgium dropped six spots to Number 11 after losing friendlies to Colombia and Japan.Mexico are up two spots to No. 20 as a result of beating New Zealand in their intercontinental World Cup playoff.At No. 59, Australia are the lowest-ranked team headed to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The four Asian teams to qualify for the World Cup have four of the five lowest rankings among all World Cup teams.
