MAN CITY KNOCKS OUT CHELSEA IN FA CUP

Manchester City knocked Chelsea out the FA Cup courtesy of goals from Stevan Jovetic and substitute Samir Nasri which eased Manchester City into the FA Cup quarterfinals with a 2-0 win over Chelsea.
In a match that bore little resemblance to the dominant performance from Jose Mourinho's men in the Premier League encounter less than two weeks ago, Jovetic put City in front after 16 minutes with a cool finish of a slick move by the hosts. That goal came just moments after Jovetic had clipped the bar with a rebound opportunity.
Midway through the second half, Nasri played David Silva through and, while it looked as though Silva had strayed offside, he quickly switched possession back inside to the onrushing Nasri, who tucked the ball into an open goal.
City had the ball in the net again but this time it was ruled out for offside against Joleon Lescott.
However, they were rarely under threat at the other end and continued another march towards Wembley -- they already face Sunderland in the League Cup final on March 2, and have reached the FA Cup final in two of the previous three seasons.
Wigan kept their dream of winning a second successive FA Cup alive with a 2-1 win at Cardiff City.
Uwe Rosler's Championship battlers took another Premier League scalp to ensure their progress.
Midfielder Chris McCann opened the scoring, before Bluebirds' striker Fraizer Campbell equalised with a low drive. Ben Watson, scorer of the winner in last season's final win over Manchester City, hit the first-half winner with a superb strike from 30 yards.
Craig Gardner's stunning goal fired gave Sunderland a 1-0 victory over Southampton at the Stadium of Light and spared the hosts further fixture chaos.
Gardner's 49th-minute strike settled a desperately poor fifth-round tie that was watched by a crowd of just 16,777, with Southampton striker Rickie Lambert guilty of an astonishing miss in the closing stages.
Victory was no more than the League Cup finalists deserved despite manager Gus Poyet making nine changes, as opposite number Mauricio Pochettino paid the price for not fielding his strongest team.
The all-Championship clash between Sheffield Wednesdayand Charlton Athletic had to be postponed as a result of a waterlogged pitch at Hillsborough.
