ECHIEJILE OUT UZOENYI IN FOR THE WORLD CUP

Super Eagles of Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has recalled Enugu Rangers striker Ejike Uzoenyi to the Super Eagles camp on Saturday afternoon for the 2014 World Cup after injury ruled out Elderson Echiejile.

A reliable source in the Eagles camp confirmed to goal.com that Echiejile’s muscle tear suffered in Nigeria’s international friendly against Greece will side-line him for at least two weeks injury and the technical crew are not willing to risk him with the kick-off of the tournament few days away.

Uzoenyi, who wept in the team bus on the way back to the hotel in Philadelphia after being informed that he did not make the initial 23-man team will now have a chance to prove his worth.

The Super Eagles will face the United States of America in Saturday’s international friendly as part of preparations for the World Cup which begins on June 12.
