Fernando Torres feels Cesc Fabregas would be a good signing for Chelsea this summer.
Barca are looking to rejuvenate their squad in a complete overhaul this summer, and have made it known to the leading Premier League clubs that they would consider offers for the former Arsenal man.
It is reported that Chelsea are leading the race for his services --talkSPORT has claimed a move is agreed -- and Torres would welcome the arrival of his Spain colleague.
"Big players are always good signings. We know Cesc, he knows the division and was always among the top players when he was at Arsenal," Torres said during an interview for Movistar. "He likes to play good football and will offer ball control, cutting edge, goals... If he's made to feel important, like a leader -- like when he was at Arsenal -- he can drive the team on and he's a type of player Chelsea don't have right now."
On Wednesday, Barcelona defender Gerard Pique was recorded before a Spain news conference -- apparently without realising -- saying Cesc Fabregas would leave the club in a deal worth 33 million euros.
Once the news conference had commenced, Pique told journalists: "Cesc is such a great player and he simply is not being valued at his level in Barca. In any other team he would be fundamental a regular starter. So it is a difficult situation for him, but he will resolve it and I hope he does so by remaining in Barcelona."
Chelsea are also set to complete the signing of Diego Costa after the Atletico Madrid forward completed a medical at Stamford Bridge and Torres spoke highly of his international colleague in the Movistar interview.
"[He is] a strong player who is good with his back to goal, someone who can mix it with defenders and offer another outlet when you're having a hard time in possession," Torres said. "He has different attributes to our other attacking players, so he gives the coach a different option."
