Forty of the 44 congress delegates took part in the decision-making to draw up a new roadmap for the elections into the NFF executive committee, which took place in Nigeria's capital.
The football congress began by invoking "the inherent powers of the General Assembly in Articles 20(1), 21(1) and 23(a) of the NFF Statutes, 2010 to alter the agenda for an Elective Congress slated for 26th August 2014 and replace it with an agenda to fashion a new roadmap for the 2014 elections into the Executive COmmittee of the NFF within two weeks" as advised by the world football governing body, Fifa in its letter to the football federation last week.
However, another faction led by NFF vice president, Mike Umeh, had earlier organised an election in Abuja in which Chris Giwa emerged the NFF president but without the presence of the outgoing president, Aminu Maigari while the general secretary, Musa Amadu reportedly left the venue of the said election before it took place.
Prior to that election by the Umeh faction, Maigari as well as Chris Green and Amadu were allegedly being held by the country's Department of Security Service (DSS) for questioning, but Amadu was later released and taken to the venue of the elective congress that saw Giwa emerge as NFF president.
But the state FA chairmen have disassociated themselves from the gathering that elected Giwa as the country's football federation.
The NFF general assembly met at the Bently Hotel in Abuja after the earlier hiccups and unanimously dissolved the football federation's board presided over by Maigari since its tenure had elapsed on Tuesday.
The congress also dissolved the electoral committee constituted by the general assembly at its meeting in Warri in November 2013, citing "gross contravention of Article 7 of the NFF Statute 2010, NFF Electoral Code and the Guidelines for the NFF Executive Committee Elections 2014."
A seven-man committee was immediately constituted to replace the dissolved electoral committee chaired by Amoni Biambo.
The electoral appeals committee was also dissolved and a new committee was set up in its place.
Three of the presidential candidates for the elections into the NFF executive committee were present at the congress. They included Taiwo Ogunjobi, Amanze Uchegbulam and Umeh, who had made a volte-face from the election that saw Giwa emerge as the football federation's president.
Uchegbulam said the whole drama of Tuesday leading up to congress was as a result of "total disregard to the NFF statutes."
The congress ended by condemning the election that saw Chris Giwa emerge NFF president, calling it "a charade."
