PEDRO RULED OUT OF BARCELONA'S LEAGUE OPENER AGAINST ELCHE

Barcelona forward Pedro Rodriguez is now doubtful to feature in Barcelona's league opener against Elche on Sunday because he has not been training with his teammates due to a bout of gastroenteritis.

Pedro has not trained all week and he did not play in the Joan Gamper Trophy against Mexican outfit León due to the illness, and his presence in the Barcelona manager's squad for next Saturday's game against Elche is now in jeopardy.

Now that the Spanish striker is ruled out and Luis Suárez serving his ban, the young Rafinha Alcántara seems the most likely player to complete the attacking trio alongside Messi and Neymar.

The thursday morning's training session at the Ciudad Deportiva included 20 first team players and four from the reserves: Munir, Samper, Sandro and Grimaldo.

Adriano once again completed part of the group training session, as has become the norm. The Brazilian full back was found to be suffering from a minor heart condition at the beginning of the preseason and is making good progress.

The defender Thomas Vermaelen and the goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen worked separately from the rest of the squad to recover from their respective injuries.
