Real Madrid just can't seem to find their feet in friendlies this pre-season and racked up yet another defeat on Saturday night, falling 2-1 to Fiorentina in Warsaw just three days before the Spanish Super Cup first leg against Atlético. The match provided more questions than answers for Carlo Ancelotti, whose side looked jaded.
Real Madrid beaten 2-1 by Fiorentina in pre-season friendly
As ever, Cristiano Ronaldo was Real's best player and he broke the deadlock after being picked out by Ángel di María in a lightning counter-attack. This was enough to get the 'Los Blancos' fans out of their seats, but it was downhill from there, as Ancelotti's men relaxed and invited their Italian opponents back into the game.
Mario Gómez levelled proceedings with a fantastic header in the 27th minute that left Keylor Navas with absolutely no chance. Ironically, the winner came from a Bernabéu old boy in Marcos Alonso, who cut into the box and drilled home to seal a comeback win for the 'Viola' and condemn Real to their third defeat of the pre-season.
