MONACO CLOSE UP ON PSG

Monaco beat Marseille 2-0 on Sunday night to close the gap on the Ligue 1 champions PSG to three points at the top.
The big-spending principality club were without injured star striker Radamel Falcao but were still too good for their south-coast rivals as goals from Valere Germain and Emmanuel Riviere earned them the win.
Marseille had to wait until the 41st minute for their first real chance, but Florian Thauvin saw his header blocked by Monaco keeper Danijel Subasic and within 60 seconds the home side were leading. Raggi fed the ball to Germain 30 yards from goal and he lifted the ball past outrushing defender Kassim Abdallah as he raced in the area from the left before rolling his shot just inside the far post.
Monaco kept the pressure up at the start of the second half and James Rodriguez brought another save out of Mandanda before Riviere made it 2-0 in the 58th minute. Geoffrey Kondogbia curled in a cross from the right of the area which Riviere controlled on the edge of the six-yard box before slamming his shot into the roof of the net.
Lyon made it three Ligue 1 wins in a row for the first time this season with a comfortable 3-0 defeat of 10-man Evian at the Stade Gerland.Bafetimbi Gomis scored his eighth goal of the season to set the hosts on their way before Alexandre Lacazette effectively wrapped up all three points with goals either side of the break to move the former champions to fifth - their highest league position since September.
A run of six winless games for the visitors is doing nothing for their hopes of survival and leaves Pascal Dupraz's team just three points above Valenciennes who occupy the final relegation spot in 18th.
Bordeaux got over their humiliating midweek Coupe de France defeat to L'Ile Rousse with an impressive 2-0 win against St Etienne at Stade Chaban-Delmas.Following that embarrassing exit, the home fans demanded a response and goals from Abdou Traore and Brazilian defender Henrique helped appease the disgruntled Bordeaux faithful.
