Milan make loan bid for Diego López
Reports from 'Sky Italia' states that Real Madrid and the 'Rossoneri' are in advanced negotiations over a loan deal for the Galician goalkeeper.
AC Milan new coach, Filippo Inzaghi, has reportedly asked general manager Adriano Galliani to bring in a proven goalie. There are currently three keepers on the club's books - veteran Christian Abbiati (who had a brief spell at Atlético), youngster Gabriel and summer signing Michael Agazzi - but none of them has convinced Inzaghi.
Milan are currently in the process of rebuilding on the cheap, having already signed Adil Rami - who spent last season on loan at the San Siro - and wrapped up free transfers for Brazilian defender Alex and French forward Jérémy Ménez, both formerly of PSG.
There had been suggestions that López's salary of €4.5 million a year could price cost-cutting Milan out of a move. However, given the club's limited spending so far and the fact that the 'Rossoneri' have got Kévin Constant and especially Kaká off their wage bill, this would not be an issue.
The Italians had set their sights on Pepe Reina and Genoa starlet Mattia Perin, but they were alerted to the possibility of landing López instead when Keylor Navas clinched his switch to the Bernabéu.
Milan and Real Madrid have an excellent relationship, meaning a deal could be sealed imminently, going some way towards solving both clubs' goalkeeping headaches in one fell swoop.
