NFF ELECTIONS RESCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that elections into its executive committee will no longer be held on August 26.
Chairman of the NFF’s electoral committee, Amoni Biambo, had stated that elections would be held on that day but the NFF has moved to distance itself from that declaration in a release made available to supersport.com on Thursday.
“The statement (by Biambo) must have been made in error. As far as the NFF is concerned, there will be no elections at the General Assembly on Tuesday, 26th August.
“There is a proposal that we are taking to the General Assembly (the supreme body of Nigeria football) for consideration and approval, with regards to the elections,” NFF General Secretary, Musa Amadu was quoted saying in the statement.
He further added that it was out of place for the NFF’s electoral committee to set aside the date for the elections as that was the exclusive preserve of the federation.
“It is for the NFF and the General Assembly to propose the date for elections, not that of the Electoral Committee, which was put in place by the General Assembly,” Amadu added.
He further noted that the proposal to be taken before the General Assembly on Tuesday will see to the elections being conducted not later than two weeks after the assembly, on the advice of world governing body, Fifa.
Amadu then stated that elections will now be held in September.
“The elections will definitely take place in early September. All hands are on deck to ensure that we hold the elections not later than two weeks after the Congress on Tuesday, to usher in a new Executive Committee of NFF,” he said.
