Tottenham have agreed to sign Sporting Lisbon defender Eric Dier for £4m, subject to a medical.

The England Under-21 international, who was born in Cheltenham England but moved to Portugal as a 10-year old child where he joined the Sporting academy and later made 30 appearances for the first team of the Lisbon club.
A statement from Spurs read: "We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Sporting Lisbon for the transfer of Eric Dier, subject to a medical."
The 20-year-old player can play as a defender or a defensive midfielder. He had a spell on loan with Everton in 2011.
Eric Dier was unwilling to sign a new contract with Sporting, with Spurs activating a 5m euro clause.
He will become Spurs' third summer signing after Ben Davies and Michel Vorm from Swansea.
