Brazil international Robinho has been unveiled as Santos' newest recruit after sealing a season-long loan deal with AC Milan for the forward, who began his professional career at the Brazilian side in 2002.
Robinho joins Santos for the third time
It is Robinho's third stint at Santos, the club he left in 2005 to join Real Madrid. He returned there five years later on loan from Manchester City.
"I always thought that if I returned to Brazil, it would be to Santos, but Milan had to agree to it. I chose Santos because it's my home and it's a great deal", said Robinho.
The 30-year-old striker is intent on regaining his place in the Brazil squad, having played at the World Cups at Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010, when Brazil were coached by current boss, Dunga, although he has said that he is fully focussed on Santos right now.
"My focus will be Santos. Returning to the Brazil squad or not will depend on that", explained Robinho, who could line up for his new club in its next league game against Corinthians.
"It depends on [the boss] Oswaldo [de Oliveira], but I'm ready to play. I have to train. If Oswaldo needs me, don't worry", said the forward.
Santos' president, OdÃlio Rodrigues presented Robinho with the number 7 shirt he wore during his previous stints at the club.
"When we kicked off talks we knew just how important the player was to the club and its fans. It was a tough negotiation, but one that had a happy ending", he said.
