Atletico Madrid has been informed that its on-loan Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois is in
talks with Barcelona. Barça and the Courtois agreed to sit down to
talks because both parties are keen to strike a deal.
Courtois is one of football’s most-promising goalkeepers. He
has been solid in goal for Atlético over the past couple of seasons and
is set to attract a lot of attention from Europe’s big club during next
summer’s transfer window.
Chelsea stands in the way of these negotiations. Courtois is under contract at the London club which does not want to sell him to a direct rival for the Champions League like Barcelona.
However, Chelsea would be willing to negotiate a deal with Atlético. The Londoners want €20m for Courtois, quite a hefty fee for a keeper, although his talent and youth warrant such an outlay
