ARSENAL AND CHELSEA MAINTAINS EPL POSITIONS

Premier League leaders Arsenal continued their excellent start to the season by beating Hull City, Chelsea recorded a hard-fought victory at Sunderland and Manchester City brushed aside their poor away record to beat West Bromwich Albion.Fifth-placed Everton, meanwhile, kept pace with their city rivals as Roberto Martinez got the better of David Moyes with a 1-0 win at Manchester United as Newcastle United and Southampton also suffered disappointing losses that allowed Tottenham Hotspur to move up three places to sixth.
Suarez was the star of the show as Liverpool bounced back from their defeat at Hull to win 5-1 against Norwich at Anfield. The forward continued his excellent sco Luis Suarez scored four goals as Liverpool thrashed Norwich City on a night when the top five extended their advantage over much of the chasing pack.Suarez performed excellently against the Canaries with a first-half hat trick, netting a sublime opener from range after a quarter of an hour, adding a second from close range just before the half-hour mark and then making it 3-0 with a fine solo effort three minutes later.The Uruguayan’s onslaught did not cease in the second half as, on 74 minutes, he added a fourth, and though Bradley Johnson briefly reduced the arrears, Raheem Sterling scored in the 88th minute to complete a miserable evening for Norwich.
Arsenal made no mistake against Hull as they won 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.Nicklas Bendtner, making his first Premier League start since March 2011, headed home the opener inside 90 seconds, and they made an instant impact in the second half, too, with Mesut Ozil doubling their advantage to round off the victory.Chelsea endured a tough night against rock-bottom Sunderland as Jose Mourinho’s men won 4-3 at the Stadium of Light.Jozy Altidore scored his first Premier League goal for Sunderland as he rifled home on 14 minutes, but the lead lasted barely three minutes as Frank Lampard drew the Blues level with a header. Eden Hazard, who had provided the assist for Lampard, then put the visitors ahead as he cut inside Craig Gardner before drilling home.Sunderland hit back soon after the break as the ball fell kindly for John O’Shea, but the inspirational Hazard restored his side’s advantage in some style and Sunderland defender Phil Bardsley’s own goal in the 84th minute looked to have ended the hosts’ resistance.Bardsley swiftly atoned, scoring at the opposite end just two minutes later, but to no avail.Manchester City impressed as they secured a 3-2 win over West Brom at The Hawthorns.Sergio Aguero had the previously travel sick visitors ahead on nine minutes as he turned home from a Pablo Zabaleta pull-back; Yaya Toure doubled their advantage after combining with Aleksandar Kolarov on 24 minutes and Toure added his second of the night on 74 minutes as he sent Boaz Myhill the wrong way from the penalty spot.However, the Baggies staged a late fightback as Costel Pantilimon's own goal and a last-minute effort from Victor Anichebe threatened to snatch a point, but City ultimately held on.Roberto Martinez achieved something David Moyes failed to do in 11 years at Everton as he guided the Toffees to a 1-0 victory at Manchester United.Everton’s winless run at Old Trafford stretched further back, to 1992, but a late goal from Bryan Oviedo secured a that ended that unenviable record.Although second best for much of the match, United twice hit the woodwork, with Tim Howard tipping Wayne Rooney’s first-half shot on to the post and Danny Welbeck hitting the crossbar after half-time.But the Toffees held firm and after soaking up some second-half pressure, Oviedo ghosted in at the back post to collect Romelu Lukaku’s cross and seal a famous victory. The result saw Everton climb to fifth, while United are ninth, 12 points behind league leaders Arsenal.Tottenham enjoyed a good night at Craven Cottage as they jumped three places with a 2-1 win at Fulham.Fulham took the lead when Ashkan Dejagah was released by Dimitar Berbatov, who was booed by the home fans after his agent revealed the striker’s desire to leave the club -- and fired past Hugo Lloris.Spurs hit back, however, when defender Vlad Chiriches’ stunning strike found its way into the net, and Lewis Holtby rocketed home another excellent effort to turn it around and claim a valuable three points in the battle for a top-four place.Newcastle began the night in sixth place but they were thrashed 3-0 at Swansea.Nathan Dyer drilled home on the stroke of half-time after Tim Krul had failed to deal with a cross, and they extended their lead in the second half as, with Jonjo Shelvey running clean through on goal, he was tackled by Mathieu Debuchy, who was unfortunate to deflect the ball past his own goalkeeper.Shelvey then made it three as he curled into the top corner from the edge of the area on a dismal night for the visitors.Southampton’s previously watertight defence creaked again as they were beaten 3-2 by Aston Villa.Finally, Stoke City played out a 0-0 draw with Cardiff City at the Britannia Stadium.
