Cristiano Ronaldo joked during an interview with A Bola TV, saying "I´d give myself the Ballon d'Or every year", he never thought that anybody would take his words seriously.The Portuguese, tired of constantly answering questions about the FIFA award, first gave the politically correct answer: "I would like to win it, but it doesn't depend on me", and then he joked saying that he would award it to himself every year if he could.Obviously, the sentence, when taken intentionally out of context and made into a headline, gives the player an image that does not correspond to what he meant. For this reason, both the player and all those close to him are extremely annoyed by the treatment that certain media has given to his words.Cristiano is convinced that the twisting of his words is no isolated incident, and that it is part of a campaign that certain media has been carrying out for some time to dirty his image. The player is wanting the FIFA award saga to come to an end, as he is much more interested in the Ballon d'Leather than the Ballon d'Or.
