NFF SECRETARY GENERAL MUSA AMADU RESUMES WORK

After weeks of accusations and counter-accusations over the tussle of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) leadership, the federation's general secretary, Musa Amadu, returned to office on Monday.

                               Amadu resumes back at NFF

Amadu reported to the Glass House office of the NFF in Abuja on Monday while Chris Giwa who had claimed that the August 26 elections made him president of the federation did not turn up.

The NFF general secretary has already settled down to work after meeting with a handful of the football federation's management staff.

Amadu has said his first task is to get the football federation up and running after the impasse of the past weeks.

He added that the federation will now function to ensure that issues concerning the national teams, the leagues and elections into the NFF executive committee go on without hitches.

"At the moment, I'm back to work in the office without any problem. Hopefully we can start the process to continue the various programmes of the federation including the leagues, the Federation Cup final, national teams until elections are held," said Amadu.

It now appears that the NFF has avoided suspension from the world football governing body, Fifa.

Fifa had given Nigeria a deadline of 8am CAT (7am local time) for Giwa to vacate the office of NFF presidency or be suspended automatically.

Last Saturday, Giwa, who owns Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, Giwa FC, was prevented by security men from taking part in pre-match activities when the Super Eagles played hosts to Congo's Red Devils, in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Calabar.
