ITALIAN SERIE A: ICARDI SCORES HAT-TRICK IN INTER MILAN 7-0 THRASHING OF SASSUOLO

The South American forward started off his goal-fest with a close-range shot following a pass from Kovacic, who in turn scored Inter's second not long after on the 21st minute.

After half an hour, Icardi struck again with a blinding shot from outside the area that went low into the right corner of the goal. On the 53rd minute, he claimed his third, the fifth for his team.

Daniel Osvaldo put in the fourth and sixth goals for the 'Nerazurri', while Colombian Freddy Guarín scored the last.

Berardi didn't help matters for his visiting team by elbowing Juan Jesús, earning him a red card with thirty minutes still left to play.

"We played well and had a bit of luck managing to score our first goal so early on to earn this great victory", Icardi said afterwards. "I played well up in attack with Osvaldo, but we still have many things to improve on".

Meanwhile, at Napoli's San Paolo stadium, the local fans were disappointed to see their team lose 1-0 against Chievo, with a goal from Argentine Maxi López on the 49th minute.

The match hero was undoubtedly Chievo's goalkeeper, Francesco Bardi, who stopped Higuain's penalty in the first half and made other great saves to earn his team all three points.
