EDITORIAL: A SUPER EAGLES WITHOUT CREATIVITY IN THE MIDFIELD

It is very obvious that the Super Eagles of Nigeria for quite some years are lacking a creative midfielder which is one of the reason why the team has not be creating lot of chances and then making them to score less goals.

A Super Eagles with little creativity

Many people saw this great malady affect Nigeria at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and even in the AFCON 2015 Qualifiers which the team played against Congo as well as against South Africa.

We need a creative midfielder in the Super Eagles. After the exit of Jay Jay Okocha we have lacked a Creative Midfielder that can creative lot of chances for the Super Eagles.

Unfortunately, Some Nigerians were the people that forced Okocha to retire untimely thinking that Mikel Obi will deliver but it is very obvious that he can't perform like Jay Jay Okocha. If someone like Andrea Pirlo at the age of 35 is still a key player of the Italian national team I wondered why we made Okocha to retire at the age of 33.

It must be said that Stephen Keshi has not done well in resolving this major problem that has affected his team seriously and this problem could deny Nigeria the chance of defending their Afcon title in Morocco next year if urgent steps are not taken.

The only solution is to encourage Kelechi Iheanacho to come on board so as to solve that creativity problem which the Super Eagles have been suffering from for quite some time now.

The only thing that can witch-hunt Iheanacho's scintillating performance is if he allows pride and arrogancy to take-over his attitude towards the game. He must learn from Lionel Messi who is never tired of success and glory which makes him very relevant in world football.

Finally, Joel Obi should be invited back to the national so that our midfield will be very solid and Ike Uche should be called-up so as to make the Nigerian attack more prolific.
