SAMI KHEDIRA RULED OUT FOR SIX WEEKS

Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira is expected to spend several weeks on the sidelines after he suffered a torn muscle to his left thigh and will be out of action for around six weeks. He won't be back on the pitch until the middle of October.

The DFB's official website said Khedira had sustained the injury with his club and had been assessed on Tuesday after linking up with the national team.

An MRI scan revealed the 27-year-old had suffered a tear to his left thigh. Leading German tabloid Bild suggests he is likely to be out for around six weeks, although the DFB made no suggestion as to the prognosis.

The injury leaves Khedira with no chance of facing Argentina in Wednesday's friendly or Scotland in Sunday's European Championship qualifier.

His absence is a serious setback for Carlo Ancelotti, who is seeing how he his resources are
steadily seeping through his fingers. After the exit of Di María and Xabi Alonso, he has now lost the German.

According to the German Football Federation, the player was injured when he got to them, while Real Madrid tell it the other way round. They say that Khedira was perfectly fit when at the end of the match against Real Sociedad and that he has picked up the injury since training with the German national side.

Khedira had also missed World Cup final victory over Argentina in July as the result of a calf injury.
