BAYERN MUNICH CEO BACKS RIBERY AGAINST PLATINI'S THREAT

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insists there is no issue over Franck Ribery despite Michel Platini warning the player he could face a ban if he refuses to come out of international retirement.

Everything is in order and in line with FIFA
Bayern Munich CEO backs Ribery following Platini's threat
The Bayern winger announced his career with France had come to an end earlier this summer after he missed out on the World Cup through injury.
Last Sunday, Platini stated that if Ribéry was called up to the French team and he refused

to play, he would be suspended for three matches for his team, Bayern Munich.

Rummenigge stressed to the German paper that, "Everything is quite clear. Just as Philip

Lahm has spoken to [Joachim] Löwe about his retirement, similarly Franck has done with

[Didier] Deschamps. He will no longer be called up. Everything is in order and in line with

FIFA".

FIFA rules state that a player is obliged to join up with the national team if they are selected

by the national team's manager.

Ribéry announced his intention to leave 'les Bleus' behind last August, in an interview with

the German sports paper "Kicker", after having missed the recent World Cup in Brazil due

to injury.

At the time the winger stated that, "One has to know when to stop. I have experienced so

much and now is the time for others to come forward. You could see at the World Cup that

we should have no concerns about France’s future".
