Giwa was saturday prevented by men of the state security service, SSS, from performing the official kick off during the Nigeria/Congo 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Calabar which the Red Devils won 3-2.
He has been given until today Monday September 8, by FIFA to vacate the NFF secretariat or Nigeria will be sanctioned.
But the Giwa FC Proprietor, it was gathered, has taken his case to CAS in an effort to cling to power.
In the Letter written to CAS, he asked that the September 8 deadline given to NFF by FIFA be extended, while the filed report is reviewed.
“We’ve taken FIFA to the Court of Arbitration for Sports, CAS,”, confirms Chief Rumson victor baribote, member of the Giwa appointed league management committee.
“The case was filed before CAS on Friday and we expect a response from them any moment from now. They will as well communicate with all the parties concerned”, he added.
Indications emerged over the weekend that FIFA has received notification that Mr Giwa has taken FIFA to CAS over his purported election as NFF President on Aug 26.
“If you are telling me that there are indications CAS has gotten in touch with FIFA or that FIFA has confirmed receipt of communication from CAS, I don’t think that is out of place”, he stressed.
It would be recalled that the House Committee on Sports thursday waded into the NFF crisis and resolved that Giwa should vacate office for the benefit of the nation.
