NIGERIA'S EMENIKE SCORES IN FENERBAHCE'S WIN

Nigeria international forward Emmanuel Emenike scored the first goal for Fenerbahce as they limped to a 3-2 win over Karabukspor on the opening day of the Turkish top flight on Sunday.

Emenike hits target in Fenerbahce's win

Emenike played for just a little over an hour for the Istanbul club before he was replaced by Brazilian midfielder Diego.

It took just eight minutes for the Nigerian striker to hit target for The Yellow Canaries.

The big Nigerian forward was played through on goal by Dirk Kuyt and he made no mistake shooting into the bottom left corner past Boy Waterman in goal for Karabukspor.

When Emenike was replaced in the 62nd minute, Fenerbahce were already 2-1 up as Senegalese striker Moussa Sow netted the second.

It was a good day for Fenerbahce's African contingent, as Cameroonian Pierre Webo came off the bench to score the winner for the Istanbul club with nine minutes left to play after Karabukspor had fought back to 2-2 through a Michal Kadlec own goal.

On the other end, Karabukspor threw on their Nigerian striker, Joseph Akpala, with four minutes to full time in a bid to earn a point.

Akpala's introduction proved elementary as the Blue Flame opened the season with a loss at the Sukru Saracoglu.
