BARCELONA STARLET MUNIR REPLACE INJURED DIEGO COSTA FOR SPAIN'S EURO 2016 QUALIFIER

Barcelona starlet Munir El Haddadi could cap a whirlwind few months by making his senior Spain debut on Monday after being drafted into the squad to replace Diego Costa, who has pulled out with injury.

Munir gets Spain call after Costa injury

The Spanish Football Association (RFEF) has confirmed that Costa has sustained a hamstring injury, which was diagnosed following an MRI scan in Madrid.

The Chelsea striker started Spain's 1-0 friendly loss to France in Paris on Thursday night and did not show any signs of discomfort when he made way for Paco Alcácer in the 67th minute.

This is the first call-up to Vicente del Bosque's squad for Munir, who had been training with Spain's under-21s, and he could well feature in Valencia, where 'La Roja' are set to kick off their 2016 European Championship qualifying campaign against Macedonia.

Munir, 19, only made his first-team debut for Barça earlier this year. Though he was born in Spain, the exciting forward's parents hail from Morocco and the Moroccan FA had expressed interest in El Haddadi representing the country of his ancestry. This possibility would be nipped in the bud if the whizz-kid does make an appearance in Valencia.
