FALCAO'S DAD: REAL MADRID WANTED FALCAO ON THE CHEAP

Falcao's father, Radamel García, had a slight dig at Real Madrid in an interview with Colombian radio station LA F.m., in which he discussed his son's move to Manchester United.

"If you have money and you go to the shops to buy a shirt or trousers, you have to decide whether to make the purchase or not. Real Madrid opted not to and there's nothing you can do in that case", he observed.

"Anyway, I have the feeling that they wanted him on the cheap, with a whole load of conditions and things like that. It didn't happen because, like I said, they decided to buy the trousers and the shirt they wanted and which they considered suited them best. We have to accept it, because it's their money", he went on.

Mr García also discussed the 'curse' that has prevented the striker from featuring in the Champions League in recent years: "God's plan was to make him miss the World Cup, but that wasn't the end of the world: life goes on. After he joined Porto, he helped them qualify for the Champions League and then moved to Atlético. After joining Atlético, he helped them qualify and then left for Monaco, where the same thing happened. Now the deal with Manchester United has come about. If things conspire to stop him playing in the Champions League, it must be for a reason", he concluded.
