GUARDIOLA CONFIDENT ABOUT BAYERN MUNICH DESPITE THE EXIT OF KROOS AND MANDZUKIC

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola is confident with the quality of players he has currently in his squad and has ruled out any further big-name signings ahead of the coming season, despite the departure of first-team regulars Toni Kroos and Mario Mandzukic to Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid respectively.

"Maybe we need another goalkeeper as back-up to [Germany international] Manuel Neuer and second-choice keeper Tom Starke", noted Guardiola. He went on to stress that he won't be bringing in any more outfield players as he is "very happy" with the rest of his squad, which includes three new signings: ex-Valencia full-back Juan Bernat, striker Robert Lewandowski (snapped up on a free from rivals Borussia Dortmund) and former Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Sebastian Rode.

When asked about losing Kroos to Real Madrid, Pep admitted that he had tried and failed to talk the midfielder round, because the 24-year-old had his sights set on "new challenges".

The Bundesliga champions and 2012-13 Champions League winners are currently gearing up for this weekend's Telekom Cup, an exhibition competition taking place in Hamburg. They will be without the players who featured at the World Cup, but fit-again Franck Ribéry should see some action after recovering from injury. "I think he'll be able to have a run-out in Hamburg", Guardiola stated about the Frenchman, who missed the tournament in Brazil with back problems.

Pep Guardiola guided his side to the domestic double in his first season in charge of Bayern Munich, while a number of his first-team stars went on to lift the World Cup with Germany in Brazil this summer.
