Real's new superstar signing showed himself to be a man of few words during his unveiling at the Bernabéu, only briefly taking the microphone to express his delight at joining the club.
"I'm happy to be here. This is a dream come true. I hope to give the fans a lot to cheer about and win lots of trophies here", the former Monaco man said.
In a press conference given right after his unveiling to crowds of supporters, James Rodríguez was able to go into greater depth about his feelings about joining Real Madrid. The humble Colombian explained that he had come to do his little bit towards helping 'Los Merengues' win more silverware.
The former Monaco player claimed not to feel the pressure placed on his shoulders nor seemed to be troubled by the fact that he was the third most expensive signing in the club's history. "Being here involves big pressure, but I'm ready to deal with it. I've come to help the club make more history but just as one more player in the team," he said.
Regarding the negotiations that brought about the transfer, the Colombian preferred not to give much away, although he claimed his performances in the World Cup weren't what stirred Madrid's interest. "They were watching before the goal against Uruguay. Scoring that goal was just a bonus. I always wanted to play here and ever since I got wind of the club's interest in me I have done everything I could to make it happen."
