SABELLA: ARGENTINA DESERVES THE WIN OVER SWITZERLAND

Argentina coach, Alejandro Sabella, described the win against Switzerland as "deserved" and added that the 1-0 should have come well before the 118th minute.

"I think we deserved to win inside the 90 minutes. A close game in the first half, when they had two clear chances. In the second half, we were far superior with five or six opportunities. During extra time too, but a bit more ragged. The win was deserved".

"My congratulations to the team, they never lost the balance. We had a lot of chances to score", stressed Sabella, who admitted that there are "details to work on".

"I'm usually a self-critical person, but I'd rather do that within the group. Today the team played a good game, were solid, covered the spaces well. We'll be looking to up the pressure in the middle of the pitch so they don't attack from the sides and then to be more direct in attack", he said.

Sabella admitted to having found the match among the most difficult of his coaching career.

"It was one of my most stressful games. Not being able to score and heading for the penalties, like the song about the minutes ticking by and never returning...", he described.

Sabella praised Messi, who provided the crucial assist to Di María. "Obviously a player like him getting the ball in an advantageous position can do a lot of damage", he said, at the same time as expressing his delight at Di María's contribution: "It seemed like he was running more as time went on, he was more incisive".
