WILLIAMS SIGN NEW CONTRACT WITH SWANSEA CITY

Swansea City captain Ashley Williams has signed a three-year extension to his contract at the Liberty Stadium.
The 29-year-old central defender, who also captains Wales, had been linked with a move away from the Liberty Stadium especially with a possible move to Sunderland, but he will remain at the club he joined in 2008 and helped gain promotion to the top-flight three seasons later.
His contract was due to expire at the end of the 2014-15 season and his agent Jamie Moralee had warned that several clubs were interested in his signature.
Williams joined Swansea from Stockport for £400,000 in 2008 before signing his current contract in October 2012.
"I'm delighted to sign a new contract at Swansea City," Williams told the club website (www.swanseacity.net).
"I've enjoyed fantastic success at this club and I want to keep helping Swansea City progress."
